  Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary

Home of the majestic Tiger, Sariska is one of the many protected sanctuaries in India where Project Tiger met with success.Set amidst the scrubby Aravali Hills, the Sanctuary sprawls across dry thorny deciduous forests, covered almost ninety per cent by the dock tree. Sariska was declared a Sanctuary in 1955 and became a Tiger Reserve under in 1979.

It's most popular resident, the Tiger along with other wildlife including the Leopard, Panther, Jungle Cat, Jackal, Hyena, and Fox, inhabit the Sanctuary. In an endeavor to make Sariska more animal-friendly, the authorities have plans to create artificial waterholes, divert the roads that disrupt the serenity of the Reserve and find ways to curtail the biggest threat, poachers.

Within the Sanctuary, there are also historical ruins of monuments symbolic of its past.The Kankwari Fort, where Emperor Aurangzeb once imprisoned his brother Dara Shikoh, the ancient Shiva Neelkanth Temples that date back to the 6th-13th century A.D. and the Palace built by the Maharajas of Alwar, now converted into a hotel, are all great sights.

Climate in the Sariska National Park
Sariska experience tropical climate, so here the summer are extreme hot and same is the condition in winter season too. But even then people prefer to travel to Sariska in summers because due to the heat, the wild animals are found hovering around the water spots and it's a sheer delight to watch them.

Jungle Safari in the Sariska National Park
The Sariska National Park offers a wide range of activities such as a jungle safari in and around the park in the morning and evening, observing the wildlife at the waterholes, or photographing wildlife from the many hideouts provided in the park.

Best time to visit Sariska National Park
The sanctuary can be visited throughout the year except during July and August when animals move to higher ground. The best season to visit the park is from November to June. June is the best month for game viewing. The best way to visit the Sariska National Park is either by having a Jeep Safari or Canter Safari.

Getting There :

Air : Jaipur is the nearest airport from Sariska at a distance of 107 km.

Rail : The nearest railway station is at Alwar (37 km).

Road : Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary is situated off the Delhi-Alwar-Jaipur Road. Jaipur is located at a distance of 107 km and Delhi at 200 km from Sariska. It is also well connected with Alwar, which is further directly connected with bus services from Delhi and Jaipur.
